Northwest Rafters Association

State Board

The North West Rafters Association (NWRA) is a private, non-profit organization of self-outfitting river runners in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Individual chapters are located in Portland - Clackamas, Roseburg - Umpqua, Rogue Valley, Klamath Falls, Bend, Snohomish, WA - North Cascades, with "at large" members scattered throughout the Northwest and the United States.

The activities of the state-wide organization are directed by an elected Board of Directors. In addition to the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Recording Secretary, Membership Secretary, Treasurer, and newsletter Editor, each chapter elects a member to represent the chapter on the Board. A river-issues committee, authorized by the Board, works with managing agencies to advocate our position regarding access, permit allocation, river conservation, and other relevant river issues.

The local chapters meet monthly throughout most of the year and feature presentations on river trips, river equipment, safety, raft repair, river issues, and other information of interest to their members. River trips are led by chapter members down local and regional rivers on a weekly basis year round.  These trips are open to all members and are a great way to meet people and learn more about the rivers and the sport of rafting.

The NWRA also publishes a monthly newsletter, the CONFLUENCE,   which features articles on river trips, river issue updates, meeting reports, photos, cartoons, classified advertising, letters to the editor, club outings, book reviews, special columns and special events.  Please contact the editor if you have anything you wish to share with the club or the broader whitewater community.
