Located in the Umpqua valley is the town of Roseburg, Oregon, home of The Umpqua Whitewater Club and Umpqua Chapter of the North West Rafter’s Association.

The club consists of group of rafter’s who believe that rafting should never be work but rather something that the whole family can enjoy.  But we do have a few crazies that will run just about any river that has water... just to test the limits of our ability.

 A majority of the club members have many years of experience, but we are always welcoming new folks who wish to gain access into the sport we all have become addicted to.

The heart and soul of the Umpqua Chapter is Walt and Jody Bammann.  Together they have probably logged more river miles than anyone has locally (and maybe within the entire NWRA).   If anyone has a question, Walt can probably answer it, at least he'll point you in the right direction.  Here's a short history Walt wrote up about our club.

The rivers the members run are numerous.  Definitely though, the most popular run is the North Umpqua (click on the link for a description and some pics).  Another nearby river that is run often, and most of the time includes spectacular camping for 2 or 3 nights, is the Wild and Scenic Rogue.  Other rivers that local members of the Umpqua Chapter have run include the White Salmon in Washington and the Sacramento in California.
