April 8th-10th is the family friendly and dog friendly float on the Lower N. Umpua. This is a beautiful continuous class I-II river with one class III drop. We will be car camping at Whistler's Bend Park on both Friday and Saturday nights. This will be a joint event with the ROSEBURG chapter of NWRA and we have reserved the LARGE group area (SECTION B) that holds up to 70 people and 15-20 RV's. There are showers and restrooms and we will have a POTLUCK on Saturday night. This is also your chance to participate in on the DUTCH OVEN COOK OFF and show off your favorite camp recipe.

NWRA and OWA are sharing the cost of the group reservation site. Our cost of the campsite will be roughly $5.00 per night for each family. The park rules are that Dogs are to remain on leash at all times.

 

On Saturday morning, we will shuttle cars (aprox. 10 a.m.) and boat from just above the Colliding Rivers (Glide area) back down to camp at Whistler's Bend. There will be plenty of time to relax and prepare your dutch oven or potluck dinner item. On Sunday, we will shuttle to Winchester- the take out that is located at I-5. This is a GORGEOUS 10 mile run and folks will be able to head home from the take out.

 

Whistler's Bend Park (541-673-4863) - 2828 Whistler's Park Road, Roseburg, OR 97470 located 15 miles east of Roseburg off Highway 138, has 175 acres and is adjacent to the North Umpqua River. It provides a rustic setting for a diversity of recreational pursuits including fishing, boat launch ramp, playground, picnicking, camping (no hook-ups), hiking and a disc golf course. There are showers and restrooms.
